My hockey dream

When I was about 7 years of age I decided that i wanted to play hockey. Playing hockey to me was a big deal because all my life I had grown watching my brother play. He was one of the best players and he was a goalie. I remember confronting my parents about it, my dad was into the idea but my mom was that sure about it. She told me that ladies don't play hockey. When she told me that, it really stuck with me. After some time went by for her to think about it she decided that if I wanted to play, I should be able to do what i want, if it makes me happy. After i started playing I always kept in mind what she said to me that day, and to prove to her that she was wrong I tried my best to be the greatest player on the team and balanced being a lady at the same time. Its been about fifteen years since I started playing. As I got older playing more of my friends joined and it turned out that all the girls I played with were the prettiest and most lady like girls I have known. We all got really good at hockey and even won states 3 years in a row. I ended up being captain one year and scored the most goals on my team. What my mother mother said to me that day was wrong and I think I really proved her wrong. This just goes to show that being a lady isn't about the things you physically can to, its about how you carry yourself as you do it.
